Margaret and Ronald established the Margaret and Ronald Douglass Endowed Scholarship so that PLU students could pursue academics as well as their faith.

“In the early 1950s, the world was such a different place. Both Ron and I came from Christian families deeply rooted in the Lutheran tradition. We saw PLC as a place to be educated in that environment. And we were not disappointed by what we experienced attending college there. Many of our professors were ordained pastors and all the faculty supported us in our academics and inspired us in our faith. Ron thought it so wonderful when taking a science class to later hear the same professor give a witness to his Christian faith in chapel.

We both had great respect for them and the school’s policies. It was an anchor during the vulnerable time in our young lives. We both took part in the activities provided. We have always thought of PLU as one of the happiest times of our lives.

We wanted to help other young people have the same great experience of faith support and excellent academics to succeed in life. We really like the Christian emphasis on serving others which you would not find at state universities.”

We are grateful for their partnership and commitment to PLU’s mission—educating students to lead lives of service for other people, for their communities and for the Earth. Thank you, Margaret and Ronald, for establishing the Margaret and Ronald Douglass Endowed Scholarship!
