As an independent, non-profit university, PLU has two primary sources of revenue - tuition and gift support. In order to keep tuition at a level that enables the university to serve the broadest range of students possible, PLU relies on the generous support of alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.
Giving is Easy

The PLU Annual Fund provides vital support used by the university during the academic school year. Donors give to the Annual Fund to provide scholarships to deserving students with financial need. They support academic and co-curricular excellence as well as provide critical resources for student-athletes through gifts to the Lute Club Athletics Fund.
PLU relies on its endowment to provide support in perpetuity for a host of needs, including financial aid and research and faculty development. The principle of the endowment is never spent; only interest income is used for spending needs. Check on PLU's Endowment in the 2012 Endowment Report.
These are tax-advantaged ways to support the university both now and in the future. Planned gifts include provisions made in donors' wills, gift annuities and the establishment of various trust vehicles. Often planned gifts are used to establish future named endowment funds.
