Health insurance is required for all full-time undergraduate students and all full and part-time international students. You will automatically be enrolled in the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan. If you already have a comparable primary insurance you may waive-out of the insurance by completing an on-line waiver form.  Please go to the PLU Student Health Insurance Plan page for more information on the plan coverage, cost, and waive-out deadlines. You can also use a quick link to go directly to EIIA Insurance site for PLU students.

You can find information on additional insurance options such as buy-up plans for additional coverage, the Intercollegiate Athletic Accident Insurance Plan and international student plans on the PLU and EIIA pages as well.

Currently there is no PLU insurance plan for graduate and part-time undergraduate students. For information on other insurance options see Health Insurance Resources.

Insurance questions can seem complex but our staff can assist. Call to find out when you can be seen.

  • If you are seen here, we will help with the insurance billing.
  • If you have an urgent problem and are seen at another care center you need to notify the Student Health Center within 24 hours (or the next business day) to be assured of coverage.
  • If you are more than 100 miles from campus, you may be seen by another provider any time. You need to show your insurance card at the office.
  • If you need a prescription you will have to pay for it and then fill out a form for reimbursement. The forms can be found at www.eiia.org/plu/ or they are available at the Student Health Center. We can assist you with the paperwork.
