Are you interested in understanding how the brain works? Neuroscience is a fascinating field, and while PLU doesn’t offer a specific major in neuroscience, you can still explore this field through our Psychology and Biology programs.

The Psychology program (PLU offers a major and minor in Psychology) at PLU lets you dive into subjects like cognitive psychology and neuropsychology, where you can learn about the connections between the brain, thoughts, and behavior. You’ll also get hands-on experience through research opportunities, which means you can study how the mind works, and even take part in studies on brain function and mental health.

On the other hand, our Biology program (PLU offers a major and a minor in Biology) covers essential courses for students interested in neuroscience, such as cell biology, genetics, and physiology. These classes help you understand how the body’s cells and systems operate at a molecular level—a key part of studying the brain and nervous system.

One of the best things about studying biology or psychology at PLU is the flexibility it offers. A degree in either field prepares you for a variety of career paths, including neuroscience, mental health, research, and beyond. Many students even combine classes in psychology and biology to create their own unique path to future graduate study in neuroscience or other health sciences.

If you’re interested in how the mind and body work together, PLU has the programs and resources to help you start exploring this exciting field!
