Reflections from our Iftar!

The Interfaith Iftar at our university was such a wholesome and meaningful experience.
At exactly 6:06 PM, everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim students alike, broke the fast together with dates and water. One of the sweetest things was seeing students who weren’t fasting get up to grab water for their fasting friends. It wasn’t planned; just a natural act of kindness that set the tone for the rest of the night.
After breaking the fast, there was an engaging and lighthearted presentation about the meaning behind fasting and Ramadan (February 28 through March 30 this year). The speaker made it super fun with jokes and relatable stories, so instead of feeling like a lecture, it felt like a conversation. Even people who already knew a little about Ramadan walked away learning something new. Then came the best part: food! The meal was amazing, and as everyone ate, the tables were filled with deep conversations. People talked about whether fasting was part of their own religious or personal practices and reflected on values like charity, self-discipline, and community.
To wrap up the night, there was a high-energy Kahoot game where people tested their knowledge of Ramadan. Shoutout to Interfaith America for making the Kahoot prizes possible and adding that extra level of excitement!
More than just a meal, this Iftar was about connection. It was a chance for people to come together, learn from each other, and appreciate different traditions in a space that felt open and welcoming. Moments like these remind us how important it is to create spaces where people of all backgrounds can share, learn, and grow together.
