Justice Holmes, a third year at PLU, double-majoring in Studio Art and French, shared about her experience with being on the team:
What is your role on the Ultimate Frisbee team?
I am both a cutter and a handler when it’s necessary, but recently I am a handler most often. That’s one of the great things about Ultimate is it allows everyone to try everything out and decide for themselves what suits them and where they feel most confident.
How long have you been on the team?
Ultimate Frisbee is something that I had never gotten the opportunity to try before coming to PLU. It was the very first activity I did as a first year on NSO (New Student Orientation) day, and I’ve been a part of the team ever since!
What do you like about being a part of the Ultimate Frisbee team?
I love the absolute sense of community, not just on the women’s+ team, but we’re super close with our men’s+ team! Everywhere I go on campus, I am always seeing a friend with a frisbee, asking to toss in the green spaces. It’s always nice to know that you not only have one team on your side, but two!
How has being on the team shaped your experience at PLU?
I couldn’t imagine my college experience without having joined the Ultimate Frisbee team, it’s been the highlight of my collegiate career so far. You get to make friends, not only with your team, but with teams from all over the place, spanning Washington, Oregon, and even California, Idaho, and more. You get countless memories filled with team bonding, laughter, and days of not showering enough (hehe). The exercise that you get along the way is just a cherry on top!
