200 Years of Norway in North America - Alumni Event
Save the Date! More Information Coming Soon
On May 15, we will bring together alumni and friends from the Norwegian Sister Colleges in partnership with the Norway-America Association (NORAM). This commemoration will honor the courage, resilience, and enduring ties that continue to connect us across continents. His Majesty the King has been formally invited to the event.
In 1825, fifty-two Norwegian pioneers set sail on the Restauration, embarking on a journey that led to hundreds of thousands more—over a third of Norway’s population—seeking new lives across the Atlantic. Today, nearly 5 million North Americans proudly claim Norwegian ancestry, a legacy that has shaped both regions.
These early immigrants were also instrumental in founding the Norwegian Sister Colleges (listed below). Their values continue to influence our universities, where Norwegian culture remains a part of campus life.
- Augsburg University
- Augustana University
- Concordia College
- Luther College
- Pacific Lutheran University
- St. Olaf College
Join us for a memorable evening of reflection, reconnection, and cultural celebration as we commemorate this historic milestone together. More details about this event will follow in the new year. For now, mark your calendar for May 15! This event is one of several, large and small, across North America and Norway.
