At PLU, we offer two degrees in Computer Science: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.).
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is a degree that will prepare you for a rewarding career in the computer software industry, graduate school, or elsewhere. Detailed requirements for the BS degree in Computer Science are listed in the PLU catalog.
To help you plan, this diagram shows the required courses, electives, and their prerequisites. You don’t need to take all of these courses, just some of them. Note that this doesn’t include all of the prerequisites, just those in CSCI. Some courses may require classes from other departments such as math or physics.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Computer Science
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science is designed for those students who want a solid CS background, but want to couple a degree in CS with another major. The total number of required courses is lower than for the B.S. degree, and there are less math/science supporting requirements. It’s a less technical education, but can be a good option for those who want to combine their CS knowledge with another field.
The requirements for the B.A. in Computer Science are listed in the PLU course catalog. For more details or if you have additional questions, send us an email!
