Biography

Bridget Yaden is the Associate Provost and Professor of Hispanic and Latino Studies at PLU, where she has worked since 1996. She has a PhD in Romance Linguistics from the University of Washington. Bridget has served as the national 2020 ACTFL president, the leading organization of world language educators in the United States with over 12,000 members.

She is the Executive Director of the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages, supporting all language educators in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. Bridget was involved in grant writing, planning, and executing federal STARTALK programs to train and certificate Chinese language teachers in Washington State for over a dozen years. Her research interests include second language acquisition, language learning centers, and the Seal of Biliteracy.
