Grading Scale
A general guideline for grading
Effective as of Fall 2021, the grading scale in the table below constitutes a general guideline aligned with the scale for GPA calculations published in the PLU Online Catalog. The grading scale below is a guideline; faculty can continue to determine and publish to students grading scales that represent their grading requirements. Many faculty and some departments have created their own grading scales, based on disciplinary and pedagogical standards, and update these values in Sakai to reflect their own expectations.
As a guideline, this grading scale is the default used in Sakai Gradebook (for course sites created after August 20, 2021). In Sakai faculty can adjust the grading scale to their preferred scale. Any changes made to the grading scale for a particular semester are not retroactive or applicable to prior semesters in which a given grading scale was implemented.
