Causeway Postbaccalaureate Certificate Program
The Causeway Postbaccalaureate Program is a yearlong experience that seeks to increase the number of doctoral students in competitive programs in the mathematical sciences, from groups historically under-represented in these disciplines. Causeway provides foundational coursework, research advising, and career mentoring in the context of a strong and supportive community of participants. Causeway students also participate in a study evaluating the program’s effectiveness.
Causeway is a 12-month program. The program begins in July and ends the following June. We anticipate that each cohort will consist of between seven and nine students. Participants receive free tuition and a living stipend of approximately $34,000. Each participant selects a track: pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics.
During the summer, students take a course in the foundations of higher mathematics, engage in a research experience with a faculty mentor, and prepare for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Mathematics Subject Test. During the academic year, participants take further coursework, apply to graduate programs, attend seminars and discussions about the profession, mentor high school students and interact with student groups affiliated with Causeway.
Applications are due March 15, 2023.
