LGBTQIA2S+

The LGBTQIA2S+ Group is a safe, affirming space for students and alums who identify within this community to come together to celebrate our beautiful experiences. The goal of this group is to connect with each other and have a space to celebrate and lift up our various identities, as well as share empowering resources and support each other through the adversities we may face as MFTs. Throughout these monthly meetings we hope to bring in guest speakers and foster a positive community across cohorts.

Sharon Young - MA, LMFT Group Facilitator

Sharon (she/they) graduated from Pacific Lutheran University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program in 2023 and currently serves as a counselor at Kwawachee Behavioral Health and Wellness for the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority. Prior to shifting into the mental health profession, Sharon spent seven years working at a variety of colleges and universities supporting students’ transition into higher education. They hold a Masters degree from Miami University in Student Affairs in Higher Education with a concentration in Diversity, Equity, and Culture. Sharon has organized retreats for LGBTQIA2S+ students, created training curriculums on gender equity, trauma informed care, and is ecstatic to hold space for current students!

They grew up in rural Washington state, and love living along the Salish Sea and spending time enjoying nature. When not traveling to see family or friends, they spend time doting on their two cats, crocheting, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and reading books with a well brewed cup of tea.
