Unlocking the Secrets of Tutankhamun’s Gold Mask
Tutankhamun’s magnificent gold mask is surely the best-known Egyptian artwork in the world. Or is it? In fact, the piece preserves an astonishing secret: It had never been intended for Tutankhamun at all.
Come listen to noted Egyptologist Nicholas Reeves, PhD, the Lila Acheson Wallace Associate Curator, Department of Egyptian Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Reeves is an expert on the tomb of Tutankhamun and has served as a curator at such institutions as the British Museum, the Freud Museum and with Egyptian collections housed at Eton College, Chiddingstone Castle and Highclere Castle.
The event will take place in the Scandinavian Cultural Center, in the Anderson University Center on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 7 pm to 9 pm. The event is free to the public.
