PLU Announces New Master of Science in Marketing Research Degree
Master of Science in Marketing Research Degree Launches in Fall 2015
Pacific Lutheran University’s School of Business is accepting applications for the first cohort of its latest master’s degree, the Master of Science in Marketing Research (MSMR). The program will begin in September 2015, making PLU the only university on the West Coast to offer a dedicated MSMR degree.
“PLU is excited to deliver the depth of education necessary to provide industry with job candidates equipped in relevant quantitative and qualitative marketing-research skills,” said Mari Peterson, director of the MSMR program.
PLU’s MSMR program has been developed as a highly engaging, hands-on, full-time 10-month program, offered from September to June. PLU Marketing Research Professor Susan Harmon said the program will adhere to PLU’s distinct ethical and moral philosophies through coursework and community involvement. Each term, students will progress through courses that will broaden their capabilities and allow for practical application of analytic and research concepts.
“I am very impressed with the innovative and engaging degree program created by the Marketing professors,” said School of Business Dean Nancy Albers Miller. “The development team engaged in extensive research to ensure that the curriculum aligns with industry demands and that the student will receive the best possible educational experience.”
In 2013, Money Magazine ranked Marketing Research Analyst as the 11th best job in America. PLU’s degree will offer students the opportunity to increase statistical skills, improve analytical abilities, learn to link data to strategy and make a positive impact in their environment.
PLU’s innovative MSMR program has been designed to accommodate students with undergraduate educations in a wide range of disciplines. Recent bachelor’s graduates with a desire to gain strong skills in Big Data analytics and marketing-research techniques are encouraged to apply.
The Pacific Northwest offers a wide array of business and learning opportunities for students in the program. Industries seeking the skills taught in PLU’s MSMR program include consulting, technology, communication, finance, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, consumer goods, major retail and nonprofit organizations.
The program will be offered in PLU’s state-of-the-art Morken Center for Learning and Technology. The degree is offered in conjunction with the School of Business Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Finance degree programs.
Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since 1971, PLU is recognized in The Princeton Review’s 2014 edition of the Top 295 Business Schools.
