TACOMA, WASH. (July 14, 2015)—PLU Assistant Professor of Business Ufuk Ince, CFA, has been elected president of the CFA Society Seattle for the 2015-16 term. Ince and his team will lead the 980-member organization in its mission to advance the investment profession in the Puget Sound region in technical competence and professional integrity.
Ince specializes in financial derivatives and investments and is a CFA charter holder and Registered Investment Advisor in the state of Washington. He joined the CFA Society Seattle in 2003, soon after earning his CFA designation. Over the years he took on a variety of responsibilities, including founding chair of the Investment Research Challenge, University Relations Chair, Trustee, Treasurer, Programming Chair and Vice President the past two years. He also served as a key volunteer supporting the CFA designation for the global parent organization, the CFA Institute. Created in 1974, CFA Society Seattle is dedicated to professional excellence, integrity, education, volunteer service and strength of community.
Ince said his deep involvement with the CFA Society is an opportunity to bring industry, students and universities together. “I have seen many Finance students— including those at PLU—get involved in the global CFA community in various ways, and the impact on their professional formation and career opportunities has been significant. At the same time, the finance industry is happy to engage with talented students early in their careers via internships, scholarships, competitions and networking. It is a win-win-win for both sides and the financial markets.”
Ince is the Chief Investment Officer at a boutique wealth-management firm that specializes in enhanced passive strategies and the recipient of several National Science Foundation grants on financial modeling of seismic mitigation investments. His scholarship focuses on financial risk management, real options and valuation of seismic retrofit investments, and his recent publications appeared in Managerial Finance, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Derivatives and Hedge Funds, and Corporate Finance Review.
Launched in 2011, the Master of Science in Finance program at the PLU School of Business is the only CFA-Institute recognized academic program in the State of Washington.
