The PLU campus community is grateful to the nearly 2,000 Lutes who came together to celebrate and support what they love at PLU during Bjug Day of Giving on October 17-18. Together, $1.2 million was raised in support of student success and experiences.
Through the outstanding generosity of Lutes across the globe, our community came together in a remarkable show of support for students.
A main focus during Bjug Day is raising funds for scholarships, inspired by the $450,000 scholarship match created by a group of 45 donors. With this opportunity, gifts to any area of campus were matched with an additional gift to student scholarships.
“I’m very grateful for the help and support through my scholarship. It has helped me and my family immensely,” shares Guillermo Baltazar Munoz ’25, who is majoring in Graphic Design.
“[My scholarship] helps me continue to put all my efforts and focus towards school and preparation for life after PLU. Also, my scholarship helps me continue dedicating some time to service in my community,” concluded Baltazar Munoz.
Beyond scholarships, gifts were generously given to over 100 different funds at PLU, ranging across areas of athletics, academics and student resources.
Here’s what Lutes like you helped accomplish:
- Scholarships: 328 donors | $570,000 raised
- Academics: 165 donors | $37,000 raised
- Athletics: 1,255 donors | $204,000 raised
- Student Success: 157 donors | $117,000 raised
Bjug Day is all about caring for students and investing in their opportunities at PLU. To everyone who participated in this impactful tradition, thank you! You are part of what makes this community special.
