Employees displaying adverse symptoms of wildfire smoke exposure must be monitored to determine whether medical attention is necessary. If this should occur, they are instructed to report their symptoms to their supervisor, who will ensure they are being monitored by a co-worker if the supervisor cannot do so themselves.
Employees exhibiting signs of injury or illness due to wildfire smoke exposure should move to a location with filtered air (if nearby) and contact PLU Campus Safety for initial medical response; contact 911 directly for any life-threatening emergency. The Campus Safety personnel and the employee will determine whether a response from Central Pierce Fire and Rescue (CPFR) is needed, help coordinate the response, and assist in documenting the incident. PLU does not retaliate against affected employees for seeking such treatment.
