Biography

Broadly, my research falls under the rubric of cognitive psychology. More specifically, my primary research focus is on issues of language and knowledge, especially knowledge about word meanings, in both adults and toddlers. Current studies investigate differences in toddlers’ comprehension of partially known words. Secondary lines of investigation can be described as social cognition (e.g., the effects of physical attractiveness on eyewitness memory, cognitive overload as an explanation for noncompliance with emergency vehicles, or ethical decision making as a function of gender and academic major.) Undergraduate research assistants are involved in all phases of all projects.
