Students should submit a Housing Cancellation form for any reason they plan to leave university housing including:
- Graduating
- Studying Away
- Withdrawing
- Moving to a Parent Address
- Moving Off Campus
- Students who submit that they are moving off campus for J-term or Spring must meet the Residency Requirement. Campus Life will verify student eligibility and follow up with the student if they are not eligible.
Canceling for the Current Semester
Students who are withdrawing or moving out of university housing during an active term will have 48 hours after submitting the Housing Cancellation form to move out of their room and hall. Please refer to the table above for cancellation penalties that may apply depending on your Housing Cancellation form submission date.
Students should note that canceling during Fall semester will result in a cancellation of Fall, J-term, and Spring semester housing. If you are planning on returning for J-term or Spring semester, you will need to reapply for a new housing assignment through the Living Plans and Learning Community Application.
Canceling J-term Only
Students who are leaving campus after Fall semester and do not plan to return to campus until Spring semester should complete a Housing Cancellation Form for J-term Only.
Students who cancel housing for J-Term and plan to return for Spring semester are permitted to leave belongings in their room during J-Term. Students will lose card swipe access during J-term that will be reinstated for Spring semester. See our Year at Glance page for the exact date halls will reopen for Spring.
Students who are studying away during J-term but need access before or after travel dates can contact RLIF@PLU.edu for access to their hall for select dates. Campus Life also partners with Wang Center to coordinate which J-term study away trips may need extra access during J-term.
Students planning on departing campus after Fall semester and not returning for the remainder of the academic year are expected to move out at the end of Fall semester. Students who are moving out should coordinate their Community Director or RA to schedule a checkout. Please refer to the Checkout Guidelines for expectations for moving out.
Check out Campus Life’s Year at a Glance page for the exact Fall Closing date [typically 6:00pm the Friday of finals week].
Students attending J-term on campus and plan to move off after J-term should submit a Housing Cancellation form for Spring Only.
