GET INVOLVED
In times of celebration and trial, one thing remains STRONG:
THE LUTE COMMUNITY.
Now more than ever, PLU students need
YOU
4 Ways You Can Help Students TODAY
1
Sign up for LuteLink
Many things have changed, and will continue to change in our world, and now more than ever your experience and advice is needed by current students and fellow alumni. LuteLink is an online network that makes it easier than ever for Lutes to support each other.
Some of the great features of LuteLink:
- Receive recommendations for connections based on your profile.
- Search for fellow alumni with these these filters:
- Geographic (cities, regional areas, countries)
- Industry/Company/Organization/Graduate/Professional School
- Faculty can find alumni experts for classroom presentations
- Easily create a profile and log in using your LinkedIn information.
2
Provide Internship & Job Opportunities
Students and recent graduates are looking for job and internship opportunities right now and you have the power to open doors for them. When you have insight into upcoming opportunities within your organization, share these opportunities and increase Lutes’ likelihood of getting hired.
You can be the link between your organization and PLU. Send your organization’s job or internship postings to the Office of Alumni & Student Connections at career@plu.edu.
3
Refer the next generation of students
Refer a student and they can receive up to $4,000 in Alumni Referral Scholarship support thanks to you.
It’s as easy as 1,2,3
- Fill out the Student Referral form at plu.edu/refer
- The student applies to PLU and is accepted
- Student receives $1,000 annually
As a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, you know firsthand the amazing experiences students have as part of the liberal arts education here. With the Alumni Referral Scholarship, you can help make PLU possible for someone you know.
There’s no limit to the number of students you can qualify for an award. You don’t have to wait until they’re high school seniors, either — refer a freshman to give them lots of time to think about becoming a Lute.
The deadline to refer a student graduating from high school in 2021 is Dec. 1, 2020.
4
Support scholarships
Your support of scholarships can keep PLU students going. And all gifts make a difference.
Scholarships are the No. 1 financial need for most PLU students. Scholarships help the best and brightest students choose PLU — and scholarships make sure they can continue their education.
Because of the pandemic, PLU students currently have increased scholarship need. With record-level unemployment, many students were unable to work this summer, and many families are less able to provide financial support for their students.
Your gift of any size will help students succeed this year.
