Peter C.C. Wang passed away on May 31, 2020. Born in 1937 in Yentai, China, Peter studied and lived in Yentai, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tai Chung, before coming to the United States to continue his education in 1957 at the age of 20. Peter majored in math and physics at PLU. At age 22, he met Grace Luo, whom he married the next year. After completing his Ph.D., Peter taught statistics at Michigan State, the University of Iowa, Stanford University, and the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey. The family fell in love with the Monterey Peninsula, making Pebble Beach their home for the next 50 years. After a long teaching career, Peter transitioned to real estate investment and became a passionate investor in the Monterey Peninsula, and across the West Coast. Generous philanthropists to Chinese student scholarships and global education, Peter and Grace are responsible for the donation that established PLU’s Wang Center for Global Education, a gift that has left a lasting impact on campus and the lives of countless PLU students. Peter is survived by Grace and their
three children and five grandchildren.
