Bette Catlin, and Bill Catlin (a visiting teacher at Pacific Lutheran University for Dr. Ostensen) celebrated 50 years of marriage on Aug. 20, 2022. Bill was an instructor at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. for six years. He went on to teach science and math in a small, rural Illinois community (Seneca) for about 20 years, retiring in 1995. Bette taught various grades (4th, 5th, 6th, Special Reading), and in 1990-91 ended her full-time teaching by moving to Shenyang, Peoples Republic at China and teaching English to college students and instructors. The Catlins moved back to the Pacific Northwest in October 1997. Together, they adopted their cat, “Gracie Girl”, from the Tacoma Humane Society on Aug. 12, 2020. “Our lives are good!”
