Norita Nelson passed away in October 2021 at the age of 84. She was born the youngest of four children into a hardworking, Lutheran farming family in the Sedro-Woolley area of Washington. She knew she wanted to be a nurse, and worked hard to save money to go to school. As a nursing student at Pacific Lutheran College, she forged life-long relationships with her classmates, and gained an education that prepared her for meaningful work. Over her lifetime she worked in obstetrics, Hospital based Mental Health, and Community Health. She earned a Certificate in Public Administration. Her last job was for the State of Hawaii’s Community Long Term Care branch. Norita was proud of her Scandinavian heritage, and enjoyed meeting people of diverse cultures. Spending time with family and friends was important to her, as well as her strong Christian faith. She loved hiking and nature, traveling, crafts, and animal friends. She will be missed by many.
