Halvar Olstead and Alvina (Hauf) ’73

Halvar Olstead and Alvina (Hauf) ’73 continue to “fail” retirement. Halvar is the safety manager at Seabrook, Wash., and Alvina is the Harbor Home Care and Hospice chaplain. They’ve lived in Ocean Shores, Wash., since 2018, after Alvina’s ten years in far eastern Montana as an ELCA pastor. Halvar is currently the treasurer of Galilean Lutheran Church, where Alvina directs the bell and vocal choirs and plays for the church when she’s not serving as a supply pastor. They both play in community music groups at Grays Harbor College.
