Roger Hansen

Roger Hansen reflects fondly on his J-Term (called Interim at the time) experiences. In 1970, he took a tour of nine western states in a geology class led by Dr. Brian Lowes. His fondest and most memorable interim course was through Alaska Methodist University when he visited the four Hawaiian Islands: Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Hawaii. Students were escorted by personnel of the Volcano Observatory and got to stand next to Mauna-Ulu while it spewed lava and they watched the personnel take samples of the fresh lava.
