Patricia A. McCullough ’74 died Aug. 29.

McCullough died Aug. 29. Following graduation from high school, Pat served our country in the Air Force as a flight attendant for troops stationed in Europe and the Middle East. After a bachelor’s degree at Seattle University (summa cum laude, 1972) and a master’s at Pacific Lutheran University (1974), Pat embarked on a career in healthcare administration. As vice president for operations at Comprehensive Care Corporation (COMPCARE), she supervised chemical dependency treatment programs nationwide. In 1993, Pat joined what is now Select Specialty Hospital, where she helped establish “Hospitals within Hospitals,” including one in Phoenix’s St. Joseph’s, for patients requiring long-term intensive care. Outside of work, she enjoyed life with her surviving partner of 27 years, Barbara Try. Together, residing in four states, they played cards with their friends, cultivated roses and cared for their beloved cats (Beast and Betsy) and dogs (Tasha, Sami, Sara, and Scooby). They especially liked to travel. Passing through nearly every state in their Roadtrek, they visited relatives in Washington, Iowa and Minnesota and haunted street fairs everywhere, especially Seattle’s Pike Street Market. Pat is also survived by her son John Olson, former husband Truman Olson, sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Stan Johannes, and sister-in-law Bert Albertson. Preceding her in death was husband Don McCullough.
