Brian Aust

Brian Aust ’92 has been a practicing immigration attorney for 15 years. He spent a week in July volunteering with the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project at the Southern Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas, working with women from Central America who were in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These women are seeking asylum and other relief under our immigration laws. A vast network of attorneys and human rights activists are trying to persuade the federal government to end family detention, but in the meantime, the women and children held there require legal representation and the CARA Pro Bono Project is helping in that way. The work of the team was featured in Los Angeles Times articles. More information at www.caraprobono.org
