Food Truck Policy
Request approval from Hospitality Services in writing when planning an event on campus that will include food trucks. This request must be submitted at least 30 business days prior to the event. The request must include the number of food trucks and desired location. Hospitality Services will review and give conditional approval. The trucks may not block access routes or cause any safety hazards.
For PLU hosted events:
The following information must be provided to Hospitality Services no later than 14 business days prior to the event:
- Name of the food truck business
- Copy of their Washington State Business License
- Copy of their Tacoma Pierce County Health Department Mobile Permit
- Certificate of insurance showing Pacific Lutheran University as additional insured and coverage in the following amounts:
- General Liability – $1Mil Occurrence
- Auto Liability – $1Mil Occurrence/Combined Single Limit
Hospitality Services will notify Tacoma Pierce County Health Department of the date and time the food trucks will be on campus and provide them copies of their mobile permits. This notification must occur 14 days prior to the event or the food trucks will not be allowed on campus.
Third-parties renting facilities from the university must take the following steps:

Third-parties renting facilities from the university are responsible for obtaining and ensuring that any food trucks they bring on campus have the following:
- Washington State Business License
- Tacoma Pierce County Health Department Mobile Permit
- Certificate of insurance showing coverage in the following amounts
- General Liability – $1Mil Occurrence
- Auto Liability – $1Mil Occurrence/Combined Single Limit
Third-parties renting facilities from the university are liable for any incidents and/or damage caused by the food trucks.
