Geologic Field ExperienceStudents completing the B.A. degree in Earth Science are recommended to take a departmentally approved field camp from another college or university. Students would normally take this during the summer, after their junior year or after their senior year depending upon their level of preparation. This field experience may be a traditional field geology course or a field based course in Hydrology, Environmental Geology or Geophysics, etc. Students must have approval of

  • The School of Oceanography at the University of Washington , with support from the  eScience Institute , is excited to announce an undergraduate summer program, “Data Science in Oceanography.” The goal of the program is to provide undergraduate students with opportunities in contemporary data-driven research in oceanography and…

. Participating students will interact closely with faculty and graduate student mentors to develop and advance research projects revolving around oceanographic data analysis. Students will attend overview lectures on fundamental problems in different oceanography fields, including physical, biological, and chemical oceanography as well as marine geology and geophysics. They will gain a basic understanding and hands-on experience in data science techniques, including time series analysis and machine learning

athletics for the Men’s Basketball team here is also a major reason why I choose to attend PLU and I’m forever grateful for being able to call myself an NCAA athlete. My PLU experience: The lifelong friendships with fellow classmates as well as with faculty here at PLU is something that I cherish and will never forget. What’s next? My next step is to take a year off and get some experience in the field before applying to graduate schools for the opportunity to study either Geology or Geophysics. Casey
