The Recognition Ceremony, which includes presentation of school pins for ABSNs and BSNs and graduate hoods for MSN and DNPs along with other awards and recognition, is held for the graduating nursing students. The ceremony is planned by the School of Nursing and the graduating students and represents a long-standing tradition of schools of nursing. Participation in the Pinning/Hooding ceremony is limited to students who are graduating from one of the PLU School of Nursing degree programs

The School of Nursing maintains a nursing skills lab and a simulation lab on each campus. Students are scheduled for specific laboratory times to practice those skills taught in the curriculum. Skill acquisition requires hands-on practice and students are expected to use these times to achieve skill competency. The Art of the BookThe Art of the Book I is a studio art course in the historical, aesthetic, and creative dimensions of book design and typography. The class is conducted in PLU’s own Elliott Press. Students gain hands-on experience in the enduring handcrafts of typesetting, letterpress printing, and bookbinding.
