So it was with the life of Norm Forness, who passed away last April. After graduating from Pacific Lutheran College in 1958, Forness pursued graduate studies, culminating with the Ph.D. in history from Penn State. He joined the history department at Gettysburg College in 1964 and taught there for 36 years. He was remembered by a colleague as a
