, fertility, migration, and ethnicity. She conducted fieldwork research on female fertility behavior in relation to socio-cultural values and norms in rural Bangladesh. Her study results have been published in the Journal of Comparative Family Studies (2000) and the Journal of International Women’s Studies (2004). Her courses focus on the importance of nursing theory and research as essential components to influencing nursing practice, ultimately resulting in improved patient outcomes through the promotion of evidence-based, competent nursing care. In addition to teaching at PLU, Kristen is also an instructor through the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and teaches fetal monitoring courses to nurses and obstetric providers.
