But every day this past fall, after teaching his course at PLU, Zhu commuted north to the University of Washington to take a class for his PhD. Dr. Urdangarain is from Uruguay and started a project with Dr. Rona Kaufman interviewing the residents of a Jewish nursing home in Montevideo, their caregivers and loved ones. We’re creating a digital archive of narratives collected from Uruguayan Jews who experienced the Holocaust, migration and the diaspora. So for the past 12
