years. I worked in acute care med/surg nursing before transitioning into education. I taught for 8 years at a small college in Helena, MT and have experience in all aspects of nursing education. Teaching student nurses is my passion and I am so excited to be joining the team of excellent faculty at PLU. In my spare time I love fly fishing, kayaking and traveling with my family. Secondary lines of investigation can be described as social cognition (e.g., the effects of physical attractiveness on eyewitness memory, cognitive overload as an explanation for noncompliance with emergency vehicles, or ethical decision making as a function of gender and academic major.) Undergraduate research assistants are involved in all phases of all projects.

. His wind ensemble music in particular is performed regularly throughout North America, Europe and Japan. In 2001, Youtz was honored with the “Composer of the Year” award from the Washington State Music Teacher’s Association. His compositions include works for orchestra, band, choir, voice and chamber ensembles, and he is currently at work on a second opera: Cai Yan Fiery Jade based on a libretto by Chinese poet Zhang Er 张耳.
