Area Studies programs and especially in the Scandinavian Cultural Center (SCC), which in September takes those roots on the road and to the public. In celebration of PLU’s 125th anniversary, the SCC has created a special exhibition called PLU at 125: Lutheran Education on the Frontier, which will be displayed at the internationally recognized Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood from Sept. 26 to Nov. 10. show “My Brother Kissed Mark Zuckerberg” will be performed in the Karen Hille Phillips Studio Theater at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27. Peter Serko is the writer and performer of “My Brother Kissed Mark Zuckerberg.” Serko lost his brother, David, to AIDS in 1992. Inspired by a memory quilt 20 years later, he began The David Serko Project in February 2012. To create the foundation of “My Brother Kissed Mark Zuckerberg,” Serko used Facebook to connect with more than 100 friends of David who helped

an endowment from Generations for Peace, a nonprofit dedicated to peacebuilding at the grassroots level. Students who pursue majors or minors in a social science discipline or global studies — or those who are International Honors students — are eligible. The program provides funding for overseas internships or service projects, as well as domestic programs with an international focus. The work must directly contribute to international peacebuilding. Opportunities range from humanitarian aid to

students participate in Code.org’s computer science learning programs. At 7:30 p.m., Alice Steinglass will deliver the 14th annual Benson Lecture in PLU’s Anderson University Center (Scandinavian Cultural Center). Her lecture will explore historic inequities in the high-tech workforce and her organization’s social innovation strategy to promote computer science.
