Students will be required to form teams with existing students enabling a closer interaction between peers, as well as training experience to the junior mentor. Selected students are expected to work 40 hours/week and submit a mid-term report describing the performed activities and plans for the remaining of the visit. NNSA LRGF connects professors and students working in fields relevant to the DOE lab system with laboratory scientists, fostering collaborative research relationships. The program will strengthen these university-laboratory links through an unusual and exciting provision: fellows will work and study in residence at one or more of four approved DOE NNSA facilities for a minimum of two 12-week periods.
