May 18, 2012 PLU recognized as Green College in Princeton Review PLU has been recognized as one of 322 green college leaders in the 2012 edition of The Princeton Review’s Guide to 322 Green Colleges. The guide, which highlights campuses that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability, commended PLU for a variety of efforts, including goals for waste diversion, the reduction of water and electricity consumption, LEED certified buildings, and carbon neutrality (by 2020). February 1, 2008 Sophomore crowned new PLU Idol Dressed in a half Aladdin, half Jasmine costume, Kingsley Kalohelani belted out “A Whole New World” from Disney’s “Aladdin.” The sophomore sang both parts of the duet, so the schizophrenic attire seemed fitting, he explained. Kalohelani was crowned the PLU Idol in February, beating out Shannon Herried and Troy Gessler. June 29, 2011 Nursing program secures two grants By Barbara Clements The School of Nursing recently received a total of $800,000 in grants which will help the school continue its outreach to senior citizens in the South Puget Sound area. Broken out, the funds come from a$500,000 grant received from the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundation to the Comprehensive Gerontologic Education Partnership (CGEP), and an additional $300,000 from the Cornelsen Family Foundation. Pacific Lutheran University
