The DNP is the first doctorate at Pacific Lutheran University and received initial approval from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and the Washington Nursing Care Quality Commission in 2014. The first DNP students were admitted 2015. In 1981, Continuing Nursing Education became a formal program within the School of Nursing. The initial director was Dr. Cynthia Mahoney.
