Secondary lines of investigation can be described as social cognition (e.g., the effects of physical attractiveness on eyewitness memory, cognitive overload as an explanation for noncompliance with emergency vehicles, or ethical decision making as a function of gender and academic major.) Undergraduate research assistants are involved in all phases of all projects.

Williams has published articles on working effectively with E/BD students, and has developed a social/behavioral curriculum for use in classrooms that serve these students that has been adopted in six school districts in the State of Washington. He is also active in presenting at numerous conferences both regionally and nationally, and consults with a number of regional LEAs on program development in special education.
