Welcome to the online home of the PLU trumpet studio! Trumpet players here are a diverse group of musicians: some are performance majors, others are music education majors, and many are not music majors, but still consider the trumpet an important part of their college experience. Students can take weekly private lessons from Dr. Zachary Lyman, or from our adjunct trumpet professor, Dr. Edward Castro. Trumpet players can also perform with the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra

Welcome!In addition to the highly acclaimed choirs, various instrumental ensembles and jazz ensembles at PLU, there is also PLU Guitar Orchestra and Ensemble, which is open to guitarists and lutenists of various levels. Guitar Orchestra is open to anyone with basic guitar and music reading skills. There are multiple players playing each part, and Professor Brown conducts in all performances and rehearsals. PLU Concert BandUnder the direction of Dr. Ron GerhardsteinThe PLU Concert Band is a non-auditioned ensemble made up of PLU students in all areas and disciplines of the university as well members from the PLU community. The band rehearses one evening per week and performs at the conclusion of each semester. Membership is open to all students with prior high school music experience. With an annual roster of over seventy musicians, the USO performs 4 of the 5 major concerts on the School of Music, theatre & Dance’s “Orchestra Series.” Its repertoire is diverse, from early orchestral works of the 18th and 19th centuries to brand new literature.
