String Audition Repertoire The guidelines and excerpts below are the required materials for string auditions of the Pacific Lutheran University Symphony Orchestra. Violin: A solo excerpt (concerto, sonata, other solo work) of your choice. Please keep it to 2-3 minutes. All of the excerpts listed below from Tchaikovsky Symphony No.5 are required to be prepared for the audition day. The audition faculty will choose and ask for a few of them. English Literature classes I took were not simply reading books and talking about them (though that’s a lot of fun too!). They were dynamic and had you view literature as a piece of art to engage with all your senses. For example, I wrote a song as my final project for one class, and memorized and performed a Shakespearean monologue in another one. Oh, what good times!

We are requiring all participants to submit three journal pages of their choice. Pick what you think are your most important journal pages. The procedure for submitting is: JPEG photograph of each of the three pages. Be sure they are readable. Convert the photos to low resolution (PHOTO in Windows 10 works.) Convert the photos to PDF format. We will post detailed directions on how to do this and will email them to each registrant.
