Founded in 1982, the Elliott Press is a hands-on workshop for students in PLU’s Publishing & Printing Arts (PPA) Program and for others interested in the history and artistry of the printed word. Students in the Elliott Press focus on traditional typesetting, printing, and bookbinding techniques as they create broadsides, artist books, and ephemera. But with the evolution of technology and aesthetics, some students also choose to use modern graphic design techniques in their work. Work by

Northwest’s endless natural bounty. A quick signature on a disclaimer and you’re off on a weekend adventure in the great outdoors: hiking, rock climbing, skiing, kayaking. For some students, it’s a transformative experience that can change the trajectory of their college experience and future careers. Back in 1996, however, Outdoor Rec was in trouble. A lack of organization, leadership and interest meant the program was little more than an informal club, struggling to survive out of a storage room with

teams to envision their own innovative solutions to pressing problems, strategic opportunities, and community concerns. When students enter the workplace, we hope that they will have a sense of agency and preparation to think creatively, form teams, and collaborate across disciplines and departments.
