less of a concern, I reacquainted myself with my busy life more successfully. It was really important to start school with the swim team’s built-in friend group, and worth the learned skill of managing sports and school work. What do you think sets PLU apart from other universities? The professors who are invested in your learning and those professors’ willingness to help you understand the material set PLU apart. The smaller community, class sizes and opportunity to know so many students make it

you’re are less civilized, and more in touch with the kinds of primal instincts one has to use to survive. I think in this over-civilized, over-developed world, some feel there is a cultural, existential crisis going on. bed feeling kind of terrible. So that was also weird. But then I spent the day being a lazy lump in bed reading and napping, so that was a nice little reward. The Minnesota Book Award was even weirder. I couldn’t believe a group of Midwestern librarians and book people would nominate, much less vote to win, a book called Sex & Violence. I’m really thankful that they did; these are the same people who stock this book in their Teen collections and face potential public scrutiny about such choices

I’ve appreciated the ability to move students into breakout rooms in Zoom, since I regularly have students work through problems and discussions in small group work. I also am using the recording option, where Zoom allows us to record to the cloud. After class, I can send a link to students of the video as well

Plog: As hard as we’re all working in journalism right now, it feels really good to have something important to wake up and do each day. I took a break from journalism for a few years, and when major news

as an institution within a number of sometimes overlapping circles of character and identity. As everyone here knows well, PLU was one of six colleges established by Norwegian Lutheran pioneers—the others are Luther College, Concordia
