Bjug Harstad and Harstad HallBjug Aanondsen was born on December 17, 1848 in Valle, Setesdal, Norway. In 1861, Bjug and his family left Norway to begin a new life in America. Bjug was accepted as a student at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1865. It was at Luther that Bjug changed his last name to Harstad, the name of the farm he came from in Norway. September 19, 2010 PLU benefactor dies A pioneering health care professional, philanthropist and devout and loving family member, Karen Hille Phillips passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2010. Karen was born June 6, 1932 to Emil Otto Hille and Laura (Sandbrink) Hille. She was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Ritzville and was active in the church as a Sunday School teacher, a choir member and in the Luther League Program for youth.
