Yannet Urgessa ’16 has lived on three continents and speaks five languages. But it took coming to PLU for her to feel comfortable in her own skin for the first time.

Urgessa didn’t always wear her confidence so proudly on her head. After emigrating from Ethiopia, she grew up in Bergen, Norway, among a sea of silky, blond hair. I was contacted by an editor at Walter Foster Publishing. She had found my work online and asked if I was interested in doing a book on hand lettering.
