Elise is a recent Music Education graduate from PLU and described by her mentors as an all-around excellent musician, teacher, and

studies program as a lecturer for a J-term class and a spring semester. She also taught Spanish as a substitute teacher at Stahl Junior High in Puyallup, WA. Hall credits the connections she made at PLU for helping her land a number of jobs. She learned about the opening at ESD 113 after reaching out to a friend, Rhiannon Berg ’18, who was working in school communications elsewhere. Ironically, Hall says she thought she was done with communications as a career, after a series of positions left her

school. Since fall 2020, Nelson has served as director of career and technical education (CTE) at Chief Leschi Schools, operated by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians. Pacific Lutheran University’s School of Education & Kinesiology is bringing that creative spirit to campus April 12 in the form of a hands-on workshop and free public lecture.The seventh annual Benson Lecture, “A Learning Revolution Goes to School: The Maker Movement,” will focus on the growing trend in which creators use so-called “makerspaces” and “fablabs” to invent and create products.
