Search & Directory Upgrade
This has been an on-going project to improve PLU’s web search capabilities. We’ve adjusted results and offered more ways to find various information. Improving search is an on-going process that we never stop working on and will continue in order to enhance the user experience.
Directory changes have already been made to limit exposure of PLU contact information through our web services in order to limit phishing attacks that make use of such information. I&TS reports a significant reduction in the number of phishing attacks targeting students since the changes were made. ‘Contacts’ is a full PLU directory limited to those with ePass accounts and access to Google Contacts
Faculty/staff profiles will remain available on a separate tab within search. Opt-out options are available through WordPress profiles and previously set opt-outs will carry over. If you have any questions about this, contact your department’s web deputy.
Search:
Web – For anything published within plu.edu that has been indexed to show-up in a search result.
Faculty/Staff – Using faculty/staff profiles within plu.edu
Expertise – Find a faculty or staff member with a specific area of expertise listed in their profile.
Departments – PLU departments based on presence within the PLU website.
News – News articles published within PLU News.
Calendar – Links and provides a search filter for events listed in the PLU calendar.
Internal Directory (ePass required) – Contacts limited to users with ePass credentials.
As we make this transition we welcome your feedback through our feedback form.
Thank you and take care!
