Professional Education Advisory BoardsThe Department of Education has two professional education advisory boards (PEABs) that oversee, advise and support the work of our professional preparation programs. The first is our Teacher Preparation PEAB, which helps direct our preservice teacher certification and professional development programs for teachers. The three concentration areas offered by the Global Studies Program help students personalize their degrees to make Global Studies work for them. Every student pursuing a major or minor is required to select a concentration area. A specific list of approved classes are set for each concentration area, and students are welcome to petition for the inclusions of other classes that meet the concentration theme and requirements. Residence Hall Front Desk Workers Another opportunity to be involved (and make some money) is to be a Residence Hall Front Desk Worker.  These student leaders provide a welcome reception for residents and guests, security of the building, and other amenities for the residents to increase the quality of their lives outside of the classroom.  Whether it is an emergency or otherwise, the desk can be the heartbeat of the hall, and the desk worker must often be “in the know” in order to pass on
