Care is a central component of the PLU mission “to educate students for lives of thoughtful inquiry, service, leadership and care–for other people, for their communities, and for the earth.” This vow to care, rooted deeply in our Lutheran heritage, requires action and an unequivocal commitment to fight for social justice. This page is just one aspect of PLU’s ongoing commitment to advocate with and for undocumented students at PLU. We recognize and value your presence here and hope that this

students investigate career opportunities and pursue careers which most clearly match their interests and abilities. Biology at PLU operates within the Rieke Science Center, which also houses the Departments of Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics. Thirteen teachers-scholars make up the biology faculty. All are full-time and all have a doctorate. Their research ranges from the responses of the host to bacterial infections and physiological processes and signaling pathways in the plant, to the

experiences you might have in your coursework, through leadership and involvement, by attending lectures and films, etc. to engage in opportunities for inquiry, service, leadership and care for others, for your communities and for the Earth.
