Welcome to the online home of the PLU trumpet studio! Trumpet players here are a diverse group of musicians: some are performance majors, others are music education majors, and many are not music majors, but still consider the trumpet an important part of their college experience. Students can take weekly private lessons from Dr. Zachary Lyman, or from our adjunct trumpet professor, Dr. Edward Castro. Trumpet players can also perform with the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra

WelcomeThe Choir of the West is the premier choral ensemble at Pacific Lutheran University, located in Tacoma, Washington. Founded in 1926, the choir was the third Lutheran college choir to tour extensively throughout the United States. Choir of the West has toured Europe, Scandinavia, Japan and China, and has performed at several state, division and national conferences of the National Association for Music Education and the American Choral Directors Association. Most recently the choir has

stunning performing chamber music, selected transcriptions, concerti and original full ensemble repertoire spanning five centuries. The Wind Ensemble is committed to championing new music and has performed numerous world premiers each year. The ensemble performs four concerts on campus per season as well as appearing regularly at local schools, national conferences, festivals and special events. Welcome!In addition to the highly acclaimed choirs, various instrumental ensembles and jazz ensembles at PLU, there is also PLU Guitar Orchestra and Ensemble, which is open to guitarists and lutenists of various levels. Guitar Orchestra is open to anyone with basic guitar and music reading skills. There are multiple players playing each part, and Professor Brown conducts in all performances and rehearsals. PLU’s vibrant vocal and choral program provides singers from all academic disciplines with outstanding opportunities for performance and study. Degrees are available in vocal performance and music education. The nationally renowned choral program, led by Brian Galante, offers an active schedule of performances on and off campus each year, appears regularly at professional music conferences, and tours regionally, nationally and internationally.
